Our Story
Apple Valley International School (AVIS) was founded in 2021. The founders wanted pupils in Kumasi, and for that matter Ashanti Region, to have the opportunities of gaining an unparalleled international knowledge, and they made provision for less privileged pupils within our operating community, who would be known as Heritage Scholars, to be educated at AVIS free of charge.
AVIS is a value-based school focusing on the development of young people with the potential to grow into the shapers of Ghana and the world. Through a variety of academic and co-curricular programmes, AVIS aims to nurture future shapers who demonstrate leadership, high ethical standards, excellence in one or more areas, and civic engagement – regardless of their socioeconomic and cultural background.
Our Mission
Providing a holistic, state-of-the-art educational experience that positively transforms individuals and their societies.
Our Vision
Transforming individuals to lead community change.
AVIS will step up.
AVIS 2025 - A Values Vision
AVIS is determined to stop pupils falling behind in every way – academically, socially. After 5 years of existence, we want to develop new programmes that will include academic courses to supplement and enhance what our pupils are learning at school, future skills courses on themes such as resilience, creative problem-solving, public speaking, and critical thinking amongst others.
AVIS education will become less about exams and more about character formation – VALUES – as the world become much complex each passing day. AVIS will get away from league-table and exam-obsessed education to a more rounded idea of education.
AVIS believes that, the happiness of our pupils in work and relationships is not hinged on getting straight A*s. AVIS will make sure that by 2025, 100% of our pupils will be living a life of creativity, teamwork, innovation, kindness, and gratitude.
Principal's Message
We take pleasure in welcoming you to the Apple Valley International School (AVIS) website! Our school’s website offers you information about our new but promising learning community. AVIS is a community in which learners exude confidence, celebrate diversity, and apply critical thinking and collaborative skills to learning. As we are committed to a rounded educational experience, we nurture learners’ leadership and ethical values through varied co-curricular programs so that they can make a difference in themselves, their community, and the world.
Our program combines the English National and Cambridge Assessment and International Education curricula. Learners are unique in all aspects of life, including learning. As a result, teachers use targeted learning approaches to ensure that all learners achieve the objectives of the curricula. While at it, we encourage and support learners to continuously use different paths to reach intended outcomes. And we celebrate the independence and confidence exhibited by our learners!
We are proud that our school’s facilities are unmatched, even novel in Ghana. We leverage modern technology to drive teaching, learning, and problem-solving. Our team of competent and thoughtful educators and support staff inspire a culture of learning, debating, and collaborating to address problems. AVIS’s flexible work environment encourages and supports our teachers’ thirst for curiosity and research. This is helping them stimulate learners to become lifelong learners. Teachers here constantly learn, upgrade, and evolve to inspire and nurture our ‘transformers’. The AVIS community is not complete without the involvement of parents. We encourage and value the contribution of our parents to school life. We engage parents – a vital component of our school- in the decisions we take, and the programs we roll out. They are also our useful resource for obtaining feedback on the impact of the learning and nurturing approaches we deploy.
As you browse through our website, you would observe that our purpose is to prepare learners for life in the future. Our vision of “empowering transformational change towards self-awareness and community participation” powers us up to deliver an educational experience that teaches about life and ethical skills for the future. We hope that you enjoy visiting our website to access information on our community. We would be happy to further extend a hand of welcome when you visit our campus to get an on-ground experience of our community. At AVIS, you would be comfortable in the knowledge that your child’s passion for learning and leadership has begun!
